Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith and Mission

The Diocese of Lagos is the premier Diocese in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), founded on 10 December 1919, with deep historical roots in the evangelical movements of the 18th century.

From its inception, the Diocese has stood as a beacon of faith, committed to the call to glorify God, edify believers, and multiply disciples.

Our mission is to advance the work of evangelism across the Diocese and beyond planting new churches, strengthening those in need, empowering the youth, supporting the aged, and enriching the spiritual lives of parishioners through purposeful programmes; with the vision of transforming every congregation within the Diocese into a vibrant, Christ-centred community.

Our Vision

The vision of the Diocese is to continue in the fivefold ministry.

  • Priestly: To uphold the sanctity of worship and administer the sacraments with reverence and holiness.

  • Pastoral: To provide spiritual care and nurture for all members of the Church community.

  • Praise: To glorify God through joyful worship, music, and thanksgiving.

  • Prophetic: To proclaim the truth of God’s Word boldly and provide spiritual direction for the Church and society.

  • Prayer: To remain steadfast in prayer, seeking God’s will and interceding for transformation and renewal
